Ingredients
- 2 cups of your favorite barbecue sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
- 4 to 5 pounds baby back ribs
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Sauce Base:
In a large zip-top bag or mixing bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper if using. Stir or knead until well blended.
Step 2: Coat the Ribs:
Pat the ribs dry with a paper towel. Add them to the bag or bowl and toss to coat thoroughly with the sauce. Let them marinate for 15–30 minutes at room temperature if you have time — this boosts flavor!
Step 3: Prepare the Crockpot:
Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or a little oil. Arrange the ribs in the crockpot, standing them up along the edges if needed to fit. Pour about three-quarters of the sauce over the ribs, reserving the rest for later.
Step 4: Cook to Perfection:
- For fall-off-the-bone ribs: Cook on HIGH for 4–5 hours or on LOW for 8–9 hours.
- For ribs with a bit of bite: Cook on LOW for about 7 hours.
Step 5: Optional Final Touch (Broil):
For a caramelized finish, preheat your oven to broil. Carefully transfer the cooked ribs to a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush with reserved sauce and broil for 3–5 minutes until the edges char slightly.
Step 6: Serve and Savor:
Drizzle any remaining sauce over the ribs or serve on the side. Pair with coleslaw, corn on the cob, or mashed potatoes for a satisfying meal.
