Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen French fries
  • Optional toppings: diced pickles, chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, or extra cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the beef mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until fully cooked and the onions are soft. Drain off any extra fat. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Make the creamy sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, ketchup, and mustard until smooth.
  4. Combine: Pour the sauce into the skillet with the cooked beef and stir everything together.
  5. Assemble the casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Add the fries: Arrange the frozen French fries in an even layer over the cheese.
  7. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the fries are crispy and golden brown.
  8. Optional cheesy finish: For an extra cheesy top, sprinkle on more cheddar and bake for an additional 5 minutes until melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish and serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes. Add optional toppings like diced pickles, chopped tomatoes, or shredded lettuce for a fun burger-style twist.
