Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak with Garlic Herb Gravy

This Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak with Garlic Herb Gravy is like a warm hug after a long day. Juicy beef patties are browned to perfection, then slow-cooked in a luxurious garlic herb gravy until they’re melt-in-your-mouth tender. It’s hearty, simple, and packed with homestyle flavor that feels like it took hours of work — but really, the slow cooker does all the heavy lifting for you.

  • Total Time: 5 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet dry au jus mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian seasoned bread crumbs, milk, dry onion soup mix, and minced garlic. Mix everything together until just combined — don’t overwork the meat!
  2. Shape the mixture into 6 even patties.
  3. Lightly dredge each patty in flour, shaking off any extra.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, brown the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side. (You’re just searing here — they’ll finish cooking in the slow cooker.)
  5. Arrange the browned patties in a single layer at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, dry au jus mix, water, thyme, and rosemary until smooth.
  7. Pour this savory gravy over the patties, making sure they’re all nicely coated.
  8. Cover and cook on Low for 4-5 hours, or until the patties are fully cooked and tender.
  9. Spoon that luscious garlic herb gravy over the steaks before serving. Enjoy!
