Slow Cooker Green Beans, Ham and Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh green beans, rinsed and trimmed
- 3 ham hocks
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 ½ pounds new potatoes, quartered
- 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon granules
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- Ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- If the green beans are large, halve them. Place them in the slow cooker and cover with water.
Add the ham hocks and chopped onion. Cook on high until the mixture begins to simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 2 to 3 hours, until the green beans are tender but still slightly firm. - Remove the ham hocks and add the quartered new potatoes to the slow cooker. Cook for another 45 minutes on low.
- Meanwhile, remove the meat from the ham hocks and either chop or shred it. Add the meat back into the slow cooker.
- Season with the chicken bouillon granules, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoning salt, and ground black pepper. Stir to mix everything together evenly.
- Using a slotted spoon, serve the green beans, potatoes, and ham, leaving some broth in the slow cooker for a rich, flavorful base.
